Here at Leeward we take very seriously the Biblical mandate to care for the poor, the widows, and those on the margins of society. We are called to love and serve the community God has us in and we strive to live up to our name and a true community church. Check out some of the different ways that we serve the community below. For more info on any of the service areas below contact us here.
We provide this community service at no charge, once a month on the 2nd Saturday from 9:00AM to 12:00 NOON. Running for over 10 years now, it has evolved into more than washing cars, but an opportunity for us to build relationships with the Senior’s who come every month.
Our Senior’s Ministry has monthly Senior Activities that range from trips to the Urban Garden center to informational speakers on topics ranging from Senior Safety to Ukulele playing. Open to anyone from the community, these activities are more than just activities but a place where life can be lived together. For more information about the next upcoming activity contact us here.
Our Kokua Assistance Fund provides a helping hand for those who might need some help making ends meet or pay for a necessary unexpected expense. The Kokua Fund is available for both Leeward and non-Leeward attenders. There are limits and qualifications. For more info on the guidelines or to receive an application form contact us here.
The Joyful Singers bring the joy of music and dance to the elderly in Care Homes and Adult Day Care Centers. They perform frequently throughout the year at various institutions, singing ethnic songs and hymns in sing-along style, and performing hula dances. Practices are held on Monday mornings at 10:00 am and performances are scheduled once a month. All are welcomed.
